Achieve more with your CODA screens by using Permissions
CODA's new permissions system enables you to control your users' access to your CODA system.
Whether you've got displays all over the world or all over your building, when the people nearest to the screen are able to update what's on there, the result is more up-to-date information and greater impact. You can get these benefits without giving away full access to your CODA account. The new Permissions system is available on your CODA system now - have you found it yet?
Permissions settings are available under "Management" on the "Hardware" and "Users" Sections. For more information on how to use the features, please refer to User Permissions in the User Guide.
The idea is that you can create users who can log in with restricted abilities. For example, accounts can be limited so that they can only control one screen, or can only edit particular content items.

You could use this in a number of ways:
- Give control of screens to the nearest responsible individual. This allows you to delegate the duty of keeping the screen up to date, and also means it's more likely to fulfil the needs of the people who see it most often.
- Get information "straight from the horse's mouth" by enabling relevant people to update it. Of course, you can do this in much more sophisticated ways by using RSS, HTML or even CODA's API. Permissions give you a really simple way of achieving a user-editable news ticker. No longer does the receptionist have to call you to get you to put a simple message on the screen out front.
- Allow designers or other "content creators" to add content to your library without having to send it to you first. You can then assign it to the screens.
If you think of other ways to use these features, share your ideas with us by email, on Twitter or by commenting. Permissions systems can be exceedingly complex, but we've followed our normal CODA practice of making features as simple as possible. We're also happy to hear of ways in which they could be improved!
