Get to know the shortcuts

On the right-hand side of many of the CODA pages, there are 'shortcut boxes' which can be a very quick way to achieve certain common tasks. It's worth getting to know them as they can save a lot of time.

On the information page for a display, for example, you'll find the 'Source search' box.

source search dialog box

Type in a few letters and CODA will search through the names, tags, and descriptions of your sources to find the ones that match. Simply clicking on one of the names will assign it to that display; much quicker than using the 'Edit display details' link at the bottom of the page.

There's a similar 'Add a source' box on an album page... if you're gathering together a few of your existing sources into an album, this is an efficient way to do it.

Clicking on a source will append it to the album.

Also on an album page, and in fact on any source's page, you'll find the 'Assign to display' box, which does what you'd expect!

assign to disp dialog box

This can be particularly useful if you're assigning the same source to multiple displays, or if you've updated a source and want to force a display to re-read it.

We try to make it easy to connect sources to displays, or to connect displays to sources; some people tend to operate much more in one mode than the other, and of course, if you're regularly performing the same operation, you can bookmark a particular CODA screen so you can jump straight to it.
